President's Report - Sept. 2010
President's Report - September 2010
The end of September is fast approaching and it has been an extremely busy month on many fronts.
The LBA and Lithgow City Council have been awarded funding from the Department of Industry an Investments to organise a series of workshops aimed at helping our local business and those thinking of establishing and enterprise themselves. We have recently had the first of these workshops called Marketing Magic; it was run by Bruce Buchanan from The Business Enterprise center. It was well attended and a lot of fun - I think we all came away with a refreshed mind on marketing our business and how to improve sales. There will be more Workshops coming up so keep an eye out for these.
We also held a breakfast meeting/seminar at the Outback Cafe in Main Street. The seminar was run by The Central West Business Chamber on social networking media - for example; Facebook, Twitter, and the internet - which really opened our eyes about cyberspace and how it can help to promote your business by building up a customer base and increasing sales numbers.
Amid all of this, we also held our monthly meeting at Club Lithgow. The agenda was an information night for Celebrate Lithgow and what will be involved on the day. We also selected the three charities that will receive a donation from the proceeds of the day. These are:
Family Support Group, Breakfast Group
Coleman House Portland
Ladies Hospital Auxiliary
Seniors Day will also be held again this year on Wednesday, November 24, in Queen Elizabeth Park. It was such a success last year, and there will be some great entertainment to be enjoyed again.
Or next meeting will be the 13th of October at Club Lithgow - which will also be our AGM, so wewould love to see you there.
Sally Taylor,
President
Lithgow Business Association
